Privacy policy
Last updated 20 October 2026
BoltSweep is built so that we never need your email. This policy explains what that means in practice, for the app and for this website.
The short version
- Your email, contacts and attachments are downloaded directly from your email provider to your computer. They never pass through BoltSweep servers — we don’t operate any.
- Passwords and sign-in tokens are stored in your operating system’s keychain on your device.
- We do not sell, share or analyse your data, and there are no ads.
Data in the BoltSweep app
Email data. The app stores a copy of your mail in a database on your own computer so it can show and search it offline. You can remove it at any time by removing the account in the app.
Credentials. For Microsoft accounts the app uses Microsoft’s sign-in (OAuth 2.0). Microsoft gives the app a token that is stored in your system keychain and used only to connect to your mailbox. For other providers your password or app password is stored the same way.
Microsoft Graph. For Microsoft accounts, BoltSweep sends mail and, if you allow it, reads and updates message properties such as pins through Microsoft Graph. These requests go directly from your computer to Microsoft.
AI features. AI features are off unless you set them up. When you connect an AI assistant or enter an API key, the messages you ask about are sent from your computer to the provider you chose (for example Anthropic, OpenAI or Google), under that provider’s terms. With a local model, nothing leaves your computer.
Licence checks. When paid plans launch, the app will check your licence key with our licence server. That check contains the key and app version — never email content.
Crash reports and analytics. The app does not send analytics or crash reports. If we add optional crash reports in the future, they will be off by default and will never include email content.
This website
This website does not use cookies or third-party analytics. Our hosting provider (Vercel) processes standard request logs, such as IP address and browser type, to deliver and protect the site.
If you email us, we use your message and address only to reply to you.
Your rights
Because your mail stays on your device and with your provider, you control it directly. If you have contacted us and want your messages deleted, or have any question about privacy, write to hello@boltsweep.com. If you are in the EU/EEA you also have the right to complain to your data protection authority.
Changes
If this policy changes, we will update the date above and describe significant changes on this page.
